Family Support

Many families who cannot meet their basic needs may not know where to turn to find food, shelter, healthcare or other essential services. Navigating multiple agencies, programs, and services can be a significant challenge. Many families do not know what types of services are available or what their rights are to access services.

What We Fund

Sunlight Giving helps families stabilize by supporting:
Multiservice Agencies
Multiservice community agencies where families can access a full suite of social services and referrals, often paired with case management.
Legal Aid Organizations
Legal service nonprofits where families can seek advice and representation on matters related to housing, access to benefits, and immigration.
Systems Change
Improving the system within which the safety net operates.

What We Look For

We are interested in organizations that provide access to safety net services including enrollment in health plans and CalFresh, health and dental care, food distribution, emergency financial assistance, referrals to housing or eviction prevention, and immigration support to help families get back on their feet.

What We Don't Fund

Programs focused solely on individual adults, school-age children or seniors.
